"Under the Silver Lake" is a modern neo-noir thriller that plunges deep into esoteric and occult symbolism. Directed by David Robert Mitchell, the film follows Sam, a 33-year-old protagonist, living aimlessly in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. Notably, the number 33 is significant as it is considered the highest degree in the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, where it is believed one begins to learn the ultimate truths.

The movie opens with the mysterious disappearance of a woman and a disturbing trend of murdered dogs. This aspect ties back to Masonic symbols, specifically the dog star, Sirius, which is associated with the secretive teachings of Freemasonry. The film's release date, April 19th, marks the start of the 13 days leading up to Beltane, historically noted for its child sacrifice rituals. This period is notoriously riddled with major tragic events which some believe are orchestrated.

The owl symbolizes hidden knowledge, a theme that echoes through the ages from the goddess Minerva to the secretive gatherings at Bohemian Grove. Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare, was often depicted with an owl, her sacred creature. This association underscores the belief that the owl sees what others cannot, navigating through darkness to uncover hidden truths.

The connection extends into the modern rituals at Bohemian Grove, where power brokers and leaders gather for secretive meetings in the woods of Northern California. Central to their rituals is the Cremation of Care ceremony, where an effigy is burned beneath a giant owl statue.

This act is purportedly a symbolic shedding of worries! The ceremony uses the owl's symbolism not just for wisdom but as a metaphor for ruling from the shadows, exerting influence away from the public eye.

Sam's journey culminates at a hidden underground bunker, where he uncovers a chilling truth about voluntary entombments for "ascension" by wealthy elites, a direct nod to historical and mythological practices of sacrifice and rebirth. The film intricately weaves these elements, drawing parallels between the protagonist's discoveries and historical events, painting a picture of a world governed by hidden forces.
